Giselle Hicks is an artist based in Helena, Montana, and has worked in clay for 26 years. She hand pinches vessels inspired by sculpture, painting, and iconic forms in ceramic history — resulting in formal explorations of shape, volume, color, and composition. The slow, rhythmic forming process, which uses few tools, preserves the traces of her hands, celebrating the tactile imperfections and unique idiosyncrasies of handmade objects. The soft, opaque glaze further enhances this intimate, handcrafted quality, inviting both touch and contemplation.
